Colaba is the oldest district of Mumbai city and one of the seven original islands that went on to make Mumbai what it is today. Originally, two islands inhabited by the native fishermen Kolis, Colaba went on to house some of the world's most-visited sites such as Gateway of India, The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Irani Cafes, Quaint Bars, Roadside Eateries, Iconic Portuguese and British structures, Jewish Docks, etc. Colaba is also known to be the underbelly of crime in Mumbai, smugglers' paradise, home to the richest and urban slums, the target of one of world's deadliest terror attacks and a Bollywood's favourite.
The Charm of Colaba Heritage Walk will provide participants glimpses of a colourful past that finds mention only in movies and memory; first-person accounts from locals who have lived through terror and crime to tell tales taller than life and opportunities to see slums, iconic structures and the sea in close proximity.
